What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a popular and intense training method that combines functional movements from different sports and disciplines to create a comprehensive fitness program. It was developed by Greg Glassman in 2001 and has since gained a large following.

At the heart of CrossFit training is the emphasis on functional movements. These movements reflect natural movement patterns and are designed to improve physical fitness in everyday life. These include exercises like squats, deadlifts, push-ups, pull-ups, rope climbs, and more. These are often combined into intense workouts (WODs - Workouts of the Day) that offer high intensity in a short amount of time.

An important aspect of CrossFit is versatility. Different exercises, weight loads and time intervals are used to develop a wide range of skills including endurance, strength, speed, agility and coordination. CrossFit training can thus help to prepare for a variety of challenges in everyday life or in sports.

The CrossFit community also plays a big role. Participants motivate each other. There is an atmosphere of belonging and competition that helps increase performance.
